FTTH 2FG MB Fiber Optic Cable, 2 Corning SMF-28 Ultra Fibers, G.657.A1, 500 N, FRNC/LSZH, White
The FTTH 2FG MB flat fiber optic drop cable is designed to connect apartments, private homes, and offices to fiber optic networks. It serves the subscriber “last mile,” carrying internet traffic, digital television, and telephone services.
The cable contains two Corning® SMF-28® Ultra single-mode fibers and flexible para-aramid strength members. Its compact 2 × 3 mm flat profile makes it convenient to install in cable trunking and along walls, while the white jacket blends discreetly with light-colored interiors.
Corning Fiber — Low Attenuation and Improved Bend Performance
SMF-28 Ultra fiber offers enhanced macrobending performance that exceeds ITU-T G.657.A1 requirements and is fully compliant with ITU-T G.652.D. This ensures compatibility with widely deployed single-mode fiber networks and helps reduce additional optical losses along routes with bends.
According to the Corning datasheet, the fiber’s maximum attenuation is 0.32 dB/km at 1310 nm and 0.18 dB/km at 1550 nm. Actual installed link losses also depend on cabling effects, route length, splices, and connectors.
Flexible All-Dielectric Construction
Two para-aramid strength members provide mechanical reinforcement while maintaining cable flexibility. The construction contains no metallic strength members, eliminating the need to ground these components. The stated maximum tensile load is 500 N.
Jacket for Indoor and Outdoor Installation
The FRNC/LSZH jacket combines flame-retardant properties with low smoke emission and halogen-free construction. The NC designation refers to the low corrosivity of combustion products. These properties make the cable suitable for installation inside buildings.
The stated UV resistance and temperature range of −30 to +60 °C also allow outdoor use, provided the manufacturer’s installation requirements are observed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this cable suitable for installation inside an apartment?
Yes. Its compact dimensions, flexible construction, and white jacket make it convenient for indoor subscriber cable routes.
Can the cable be suspended between buildings or poles?
Suitability for aerial installation and the allowable span length must be determined from the manufacturer’s installation requirements, accounting for fittings, wind, and ice loads. The 500 N rating alone does not specify an allowable span length.
Does FRNC mean that the cable is completely non-combustible?
No. FRNC describes properties relating to flame propagation and the corrosivity of combustion products. It does not guarantee that the cable will remain operational during a fire.
